how to play i shot the sheriff

eric clapton wonderful tonightOn this post we will learn how to play that classic guitar riff from Eric Clapton’s beautiful song called “Wonderful Tonight“. This song was written for Pattie Boyd (during the time when they are together of course). The story was that he wrote this or got the idea of it at least, while he was waiting for Pattie to be ready to go to the Buddy Holly party that was annually hosted by Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney.

If you don’t know already, Pattie Boyd was once George Harrison‘s wife. Eric Clapton wrote Layla while he was madly in love with Pattie who is also married at the time. Great movie-like love story isn’t it?

The song charted at #16 in the U.S. and #30 in the UK.
